Positive: The location was excellent. If you’re looking for a view, this is a great spot. The location is very accessible to downtown while being far enough away to get that secluded getaway you’re after. Great water pressure in showers and sinks, especially being so high up in the mountains. Loved the view from jacuzzi and back porch. Incredibly relaxing. Starry skies, no discernible light or noise pollution. Master bed/bath on main. The fire pit can be lit even under wildfire advisories since it is gas powered and burns clean. They had a backup propane tank on the property which came in handy. They have a Weber grill on the back deck! The property management POCs were very pleasant. Quiet neighborhood.
Negative: After two nights of severe allergies, which we are not particularly prone to, we finally relegated to sleeping on the couch with our own blankets. While there’s certainly something to be assumed about possible fall time allergies, we found ourselves stuffy and sneezing indoors but relieved getting fresh air outside. I wish the hosts would do intermittent deep cleans to mitigate after guests bring heavy shedding breeds to the property, or perhaps change air filters more frequently. The shower head in the master bath wasn’t fully functional. The area experiences frequent power outages, which happened to us. You’ll be taking a moderate risk if you urgently need to get work done via Wi-Fi while away with the family, or if you have something like medical equipment that needs to be recharged or plugged in. There was a nail not completely nailed flush with the stair tread that my family member hurt their foot on. Flat screen is too small for the family room, difficult to see. Also, I understand that homeowners want cheap appliances in rentals, but the appliances really didn’t function almost at all. For example, we reheated something in the oven from refrigerated temperature at 350-375°F for an hour and it was still lukewarm, could be handled with bare hands. We finally just tossed it in the microwave. Overall, we felt that $1500 ($500 per night) for peak season was moderately worth it if you’re ultimately after the seclusion and the beautiful view, but for us, personally, not worth it. Bear in mind, this includes all the junk fees associated with a booking platform, cleaning fees, etc. We could have probably found a fantastic hotel with a beautiful view and had no chore list and bit of room service for that amount. We don’t regret the expense and we’re glad we know, but will probably stay elsewhere for the next one. Wish the owners the best on hopeful improvements.
