Traditional Andalucian cottage in a remarkable location. Sleeps 7 | House in Castril

2 Bedroom House in Castril
With outstanding views over Lake Portillo, Casa Azul is a place to enjoy the natural surroundings of rural Spain at it's best. The house has been sympathetically restored, oozes character and charm and is WITHIN the Parque Natural de Sierra Castril. A 5 minute walk takes you to a superb, secluded bathing spot yet it's only a 10 min drive or 30 min walk through the olives groves to the beautiful heritage town of Castril.
Casa Azul is located in a remarkable position on the edge of the lake within a tiny community of 5 traditional houses, all but one of which are generally unoccupied.
It has fine lake views from the first floor bedroom, and astounding ones from the rear garden... but the best bit is the lake itself below the house. The crystal clear waters have an amazing green/azure glow from the limestone rocks and offer the perfect antidote to the searing summer heat . There are a couple of snorkels and masks available so you can make the most of the waters. In a secluded location with no real access it really does feel like its your own private lake - its very unlikely you will be sharing it with anyone throughout the whole of your stay, indeed when the previous owners were restoring the house they didn't see anyone for a whole year!
The House:
The property is simply furnished in keeping with its history and heated by a woodburner and electric heaters. There are fans to keep it cool in summer although the thick stone walls and mountain location means it maintains a reasonable temperature anyway.
