Thorn Cottage is a semi-detached property in the heart of this pretty Exmoor village, with wonderful opportunities for walking from the door in Exmoor National Park.

Newly renovated throughout, yet retaining much character and charm, Thorn Cottage has a cosy and comfortable feel. The property has an unusual layout, with two sets of stairs leading to the first floor rooms, one being a spiral staircase.
On the ground floor is the living room with Smart TV and comfortable seating, the sofa can convert into a sofa-bed for up to two guests on request (supplement of £25 for use of the sofa bed). In the separate snug there is a gas-fired 'wood-burner' for those cosy evenings in. The kitchen is well-equipped with electric oven, gas hob, combi microwave/oven/grill, fridge and dishwasher. In the utility room is a washing machine and tumble dryer, and there is a ground floor toilet with hand basin.
The first set of (normal) stairs leads up to bedroom 1 which has a king-size bed, and a family bathroom comprising claw-foot bath with hand-held shower attachment, toilet and hand basin. The second set of (spiral) stairs on the other side of the cottage leads up to the other two bedrooms, one has a double bed and the other bunk beds. The en-suite is accessed from either of these bedrooms (with 'Jack and Jill' doors) and comprises a large shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin.

Indoor Description
The kitchen is well-equipped with electric oven, gas hob, combi microwave/oven/grill, fridge and dishwasher. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, Smeg coffee machine, a variety of cookware, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. There is a dining area with seating for up to 8 guests.
In the utility room is a washing machine and tumble dryer, and there is a ground floor toilet with hand basin.
In the living room there's a Smart TV and comfortable seating. The sofa can convert into a sofa-bed for up to two guests on request (supplement of £25 for use of the sofa bed). In the separate snug there is a gas-fired 'wood-burner' for those cosy evenings in and a bit more space for larger groups.
The three bedrooms and two bathroom are upstairs, accessed via two separate staircases:

Travel cot, high chair and stair gates can be provided (please bring your own bedding for the cot).
A hair dryer is provided for your convenience.
Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The cottage has LPG central heating which can be adjusted to suit your preferences and the seasons. Wifi is provided and is good quality for voice and video calling if needed.
Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips.
There may be non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets/powder, and surface cleaner will be present in the property. Two toilet rolls will be provided per toilet and hand wash.
Dogs are welcome, maximum of 2 dogs per booking. Please do not leave your dogs unattended in the cottage at any time.
Outdoor Description
The large lawned garden to the front of the cottage is enclosed and has a patio area with table and chairs, ideal for dining al fresco when the weather permits. To the rear is a bike store, available for guests to use.
The village pub is within easy walking distance (next door), it's family and pet-friendly and serves good food (open Wednesday to Sunday year round).
There is a petrol station with mini-supermarket (and Post Office Counter) at Wheddon Cross, approx 4 miles, or in the opposite direction Dulverton, an interesting small, country town with a selection of shops and restaurants, is around 7 miles.
The nearest larger town and larger supermarkets are in Minehead (Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl), approx 14 miles. All major supermarkets deliver to this area.
Exmoor National Park is a rural paradise for anyone that enjoys being outdoors, whether that's walking, cycling or just taking in the night skies of Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’. Known for the abundant wildlife in the area, you may see ponies, sheep and red deer grazing on the open moorland. The area is also perfect for exploring North Devon with all its attractions, such as the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages like beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, and stunning cliff top sites such as Valley of the Rocks.

The region
Winsford is a picturesque Exmoor village, in the heart of Exmoor National Park and is an ideal spot to explore Exmoor from, whether that's on foot or in the car. For nature lovers, deer and wild ponies roam the moor above, and many birds live along the River Exe, which winds through the village. For anyone that loves to stargaze, Exmoor National Park is an International Dark Sky Reserve and home to some of the darkest skies in the country. On a clear night, the night sky of Exmoor is absolutely stunning, with many astronomical sights viewable with the naked eye. For hikers and cyclists, there are miles are footpaths plus there are opportunities for horse riding and fishing too. The famous 12th century thatched Royal Oak Inn is in the 'centre' of the village, it serves great food and is family friendly.
Wheddon Cross, approximately 4 miles from Winsford, is a small village with a mini-supermarket (with long opening hours), post office, ATM and petrol station. Dulverton, around 7 miles away, is a small town known as the southern gateway to Exmoor. Dulverton also has a mini-supermarket plus a butcher, post office, some lovely restaurants and independent shops.
Minehead is the main town in West Somerset, approximately 14 miles from Winsford. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl are all situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks/cash machines, plus a range of other shops, including health food stores.
