Welcome to Cedar at Snow Bear Chalets. This beautiful luxury treehouse chalet, just 60’ from the slope at Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort, sleeps 10 with 3 bedrooms and 4 baths over three levels. With everything from jaw-dropping architecture, private hot tub, high-end appliances and luxury finishes, to privacy and a killer "treehouse" vibe, you'll want to stay forever!
Cedar is 100% ski-in AND ski-out - you can ski to Chair 3 in 30 seconds when you're ready to hit the slopes and then ski straight to the chalet when you're ready to come home. (Don't worry, you can still drive your car right to the front door of the chalet, regardless of the season.)
And in the summer, you're just steps from hundreds of miles of prime mountain biking trails, hiking trails, and photo opportunities galore, minutes from Whitefish Lake and the charming town of Whitefish, and about 30 minutes from Glacier National Park!

Not only are our chalets truly ON the slope, they’re also exquisitely magical. From the first glimpse of them through the trees to the feeling you'll experience as you're relaxing in your own private hot tub on the deck, Snow Bear will spoil you with luxury, privacy, and beauty. You won't find the quality, the high-end finishes, the gorgeous balcony, the winding staircase and viewing turret, nor the beautiful windows that soar with spectacular breathtaking views at any other vacation rental on the mountain.
The thoughtful design begins before you even walk in the front door, with a keypad-locked cabinet for your skis or snowboard conveniently located on the porch. As you enter the chalet, you’ll find the turret stairs and our welcoming entry area to your right, which has a native Cedar pine bench to let you put your ski boots on in comfort as well as shelves and cubbies to store all your gear. There’s a full bathroom to your left for ease when you’re hustling in from the slopes.
Continuing into the chalet, the jaw-droppingly spectacular great room with a cathedral ceiling will unfold in front of you. With a beautiful gas fireplace graced with Montana Moss rock and a native Cedar mantle, as well as seating for eight, the great room’s cozy ambiance also creates a toasty atmosphere throughout the chalet. And if after a long day of skiing or hiking you just need to relax a bit, you’ll find a large television with Netflix and Amazon. With floor-to-ceiling windows, you’ll feel like you’re living in the trees every moment of your stay.
Those trees are what will draw you outside, as you slide open the twelve-foot window wall and step out onto your 400 sq. ft. deck wrapping around the back of the chalet, high above the forest floor. With two Polywood tables seating ten and a quality Weber grill, you can cook and dine alfresco as much as you’d like.
Returning inside, you’ll find the gourmet kitchen – a chef’s dream! – to the left. With a gourmet Thermador gas range and oven, a built-in microwave, dishwasher, and french door refrigerator/freezer, you’ll have all the conveniences of home. The gorgeous Cambria Quartz countertops add the finishing touch for a jaw-dropping WOW factor. The chalet is stocked with place settings for 20, including Riedel wine glasses, as well as cooking essentials such as oil, salt, pepper, and spices. To help you get going in the morning, we have an easy-to-use coffee maker with a separate kettle for tea.
The dining island seats ten at mealtime and also functions as an additional prep area or workstation. With high-speed wifi throughout the chalet and plenty of outlets underneath the island countertop, you’ll be able to get things done and keep all your devices charged when you just can’t escape that pesky inbox.
The loft above, accessible via the turret staircase and open to the great room below, features a king and two twin beds and is perfect for small families as it has its own full bathroom as well. Every bed in the chalet has high thread count linens, a cozy bed warmer, a toasty down comforter, and luxurious hypoallergenic pillows. We provide oversize bath sheet towels in each bathroom and for the hot tub.
From the loft, you can take a ship’s ladder to the top of the turret – a favorite place to be. This cozy 8′ round room is perfect for viewing the slopes with its 7′ round Xorbee microfiber cushion. For a really killer experience, turn off the lights and enjoy the 600 fiber optic twinkle lights in the ceiling!
Heading back downstairs all the way to the lower level, you'll find the washer and dryer immediately to your left, with the lower level bathroom adjacent. As you continue along, the master king bedroom with its ensuite bath will be on your left while the four coach-style bunks will be on your right. Just before walking outside you'll find the lounge, with a second television, books, and games. Outside onto the lower patio, you'll find that your own private hot tub awaits you tucked in amongst the trees to help soothe those aching muscles after a long day on the mountain.
No matter what you’re feeling like, Cedar Chalet has something for everyone. In addition to the television in the great room and a Sonos system for music throughout the chalet, we have cards, some popular board games, and a small selection of books.
And when you’re ready to head out, you're located right on the slope at Whitefish Mountain Resort, so feel free to bring your own skis or snowboard during winter or your mountain bike during summer, to enjoy the miles and miles of mountain biking trails. You can also rent whatever equipment you need from one of the shops in the resort’s main village no matter the season. All resort amenities, summer, and winter are within easy walking/skiing distance. Just a few blocks away, you’ll find bars, restaurants, and shopping in the main village at Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort!
Snow Bear Chalets is a unique property with THREE "treehouse" chalets - ON the slopes of Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort. There's nothing like it on any ski mountain in the world! From the front door to the slope, you'll be shushing down the mountain within 60 seconds of leaving your private chalet!
Ponderosa is slopeside (VRBO #4249601) and is our highest in demand. Tamarack (VRBO #4249602) is identical to Ponderosa and 40 feet from the slope. Cedar (VRBO #4249603) is our largest chalet and is great for groups.
Each Snow Bear Chalet is available for rent with a 3-night minimum (7-night minimum for holidays). Book one, two or three chalets and sleep up to 22 guests! Add on a chalet or two in our adjacent new building and we can sleep up to 60 guests!
