Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Staff were very friendly and helpful, even driving me the short distance to hire my gear the afternoon before I hit the slopes. Location is good, (though the walking distance if you come from the Goryu bus stop was somewhat further than expected) and free shuttle every morning puts you in easy reach of the Hakuba Goryu ski resort. Still, I enjoyed taking the short stroll down the hill from the ski resort at day's end instead of waiting for the shuttle if conditions are good. Our room (for up to 3 persons) was comfortable and more spacious than your average tiny ski resort accommodation type of room. I appreciated the extra tatami space in the room for lazing about and placing our things. Communal bath was good; what you'd expect and not crowded every time I went. Had the entire bath to myself most of the time.
Negative: There was no dinner option despite what seemed to be implied in the hotel's information previously (noted that the info has since been updated). So, similar to my experience at other ski resort villages, the nearby dining options in the evening are usually limited and the case here was not too different. It would have been good if there was a vending machine or similar at the hotel with some basic food like cup noodles or such for snacking at least. To their credit, the hotel arranged a nightly bus run to a nearby convenience store for guests to stock up on snacks and drinks!
Summary: Good location, friendly and helpful staff; more dining options would be great.
