Positive: We had encountered the name Sils Maria in Upper Engadin in Friedrich Nietzsche’s books. He stayed in Sils Maria in the summers from 1881 to 1888 in a house that is now a museum commemorating his work. Two of his most important books, The Gay Science and Thus Spoke Zarathustra, were written here. It is said that Sils Maria was magical for him. It was where he fell in love with eternity. The place did surpass all imagination. We experienced the most beautiful landscapes that we have ever seen while hiking in the Fex Valley, around the lakes Silversee and Silvaplana, and from Piz Corvatsch to Sils Maria. Hotel Chesa Pool in the Fex Valley provided the perfect, coziest, and most relaxing atmosphere for our stay. We could sit for hours and watch the peaks on the horizon, the wildflowers, and the sound of the small river carrying glacial water from the mountains. The dinner menu was highly sophisticated and delicious, and the breakfast was especially superb. We got served by the kindest, most welcoming, and helpful staff. We simply cannot wait to come back and be reborn again.

Negative: There was nothing that we did not like.

Summary: It was an life-affirming experience. We have never seen such beautiful landscapes in our life.
