5 Bedroom House in Lake Oconee, Sparta
Tucked into the lakeside community of Jamestown is this cozy A-frame that reveals charming surprises throughout its three levels. Guests will have access to five bedrooms, three full baths, and unlimited adventure on the 15,000 acres of Lake Sinclair that wait right outside the back door. With amenities that are sure to please adults (bar cabinet, private master upstairs, hot tub) and kids (foosball, kayaks, waterslide), Sparta Escape easily welcomes both those looking for a peaceful retreat and those looking for freshwater fun under the Georgia sun.
The gravel drive welcomes guests with ample parking - spacious enough for several cars and with the added convenience of sloping to the lower level for easy loading and unloading of cargo. The vaulted great room creates a dramatic first impression with its beamed ceiling, antler chandelier, stacked stone wood-burning fireplace, and clerestory windows with uninterrupted lake views. Two dual recliner sofas with power footrests are at the ready for an evening of Netflix on the flatscreen TV. A side table with USB ports and electrical outlets is a thoughtful feature for keeping devices charged and within arm's reach. Not even streaming options can compete with the surrounding natural scenery, though. Step through the sliding glass doors to the wraparound deck, where sunset conversations can be enjoyed from a variety of seating choices and with the option of a cantilever umbrella. A charcoal grill and a propane grill are both available for use, and it doesn't get much better than cooking up some mean New York strips as the sun descends on the horizon.
The kitchen might first attract attention with its all-new stainless-steel appliances but look upward for our favorite feature: a suspended ceiling of hammered metal tiles! The vintage look is complemented by a farmhouse sink that faces the sprawling backyard. A refrigerator with bottom freezer, smooth surface oven, microwave, and dishwasher are all at the ready. Within a few steps are four countertop barstools and a nearby dining table with two end chairs and bench seating. A Keurig coffee bar adds the finishing touch to the well-stocked kitchen.
Also on the main level are two bedrooms, one featuring a queen bed, flatscreen TV, dresser, and oversized closet storage. The second bedroom is kid-approved with a twin bunk above a lower berth double and with a twin trundle, enough to comfortably sleep four! It also provides a corner reading nook and two storage closets. A shared full bath includes a contemporary step-in tiled shower with a frameless hinged door - ideal for those with limited mobility.
Upstairs is dedicated to the master suite that boasts a loft with a twin daybed and trundle, full bath, and a spacious bedroom with a queen bed, flatscreen TV, dresser, and ottoman bench. Guests will appreciate this space providing a bird's-eye view of the great room while still maintaining its own level of privacy.
Downstairs leaves nothing to the imagination! It showcases a foosball machine, oversized sectional, flatscreen TV, electric fireplace, six-seat bar height table, refrigerator/freezer, coffee bar, microwave, and popcorn machine. A walkout to the covered patio provides covered outdoor seating and access to a rare vacation rental amenity: a hot tub! Of the two downstairs bedrooms, one features a queen bed, dresser, and large closet. With its double twin bunks (sleeping up to four), the second bedroom will quickly be claimed by kids and is perfect for them to have their own space. Down the hall is a full-size washer and dryer.
The star of this vacation rental, though, is what awaits at the end of the paved walkway that meanders through the terraced backyard down to the dock: a double-stall boathouse with two lifts, stairs and two swimmers' ladders that descend into 8-ft waters, kayaks, and a waterslide. Under the shade of the boathouse, adults can relax in the Adirondack chairs or at the picnic table while kids take full advantage of the safety of shoreline water while still enjoying expansive views of the main channel. From the dock, travel west by boat and discover the hidden gem of Oconee Springs Park, a marina (with marine gas), convenience store, family campground, and waterpark that features a sandy beach, playground, volleyball court, paddleboats, waterslide, blob, and water trampoline. Outside guests (non-campers) can purchase a daily park pass, and we guarantee that your little ones will be delightfully exhausted at the end of the day. Just a few steps away from the boathouse is a fire pit surrounded by Adirondack seating, perfect for family s'mores or adult beverages underneath the string lights. This meticulously maintained outdoor space will become a favorite background for photos and memories.
The irresistible allure of tranquil lake life might keep guests from venturing beyond the driveway, but others may want to explore the surrounding community. For basics and menu planning, head south to Kroger in Milledgeville or north to Publix in Greensboro. If you're on the water, visit The Grill at Crooked Creek Marina, which is conveniently located near our property and provides a dock-n-dine experience. Approximately half an hour away are the towns of Eatonton and Greensboro, home to Sinclair's twin-separated-by-dam, Lake Oconee. Both of these areas have historic downtown districts, a variety of dining and retail options, and seasonal farmers' markets, festivals, and events that highlight the easygoing lifestyle of Lake Country.
