This charming guest house offers a unique experience in one of San Diego's finest historic, neighborhood of Mission Hills which is conveniently located in the heart of the city. Our enchanting garden guest house is found at the end of a cul de sac and sits on one of Mission Hills' gorgeous canyons. It is attached to the main house yet is completely private and separate. There is a private entrance on the side of the main house, and there is always plenty of on-street parking. This retreat offers a unique garden that promises to enchant and make you feel as though you are on a tranquil oasis. Here you can enjoy a gorgeous pool surrounded by a lush garden. The wildlife is vibrant and you will be accompanied by hummingbirds buzzing about, mocking birds, finches, red-tail hawks flying overhead, and our beloved resident great horned owls! The living room and master bedroom open up to a lovely private patio where you can enjoy the gorgeous canyon that the house sits on.
Mission Hills is a wonderful neighborhood to go for a walk or a jog. If you are an architecture enthusiast you will enjoy various genres. Architectural styles from 1908 through World War II are represented in this district including: Craftsman, Spanish Revival, Mission Revival, Dutch Colonial, Greek Revival, Prairie Style, English Tudor and others. Several Master Architects also built in this area, including: Emmor Brooke Weaver, Nathan Rigdon, David Owen Dryden, Richard Requa, William Hebbard and others. You will be within walking distance to Mission Hills restaurants, coffee shops, and retail shops. It is also within walking distance to the famous Old Town area where the trolley is also located, Presidio park where there is a replica of one of the 21 California Missions, and Pioneer Park where you can enjoy a great playground and huge grassy area if you have children or not! Other San Diego attractions are all with 10-15 minutes with it’s easy freeway access and no traffic ever within Mission Hills. (Without a doubt one of the pluses to being in this neighborhood.) The interstate 5 and 8 are 5 minutes away. The airport, Littly Italy, Downtown & Gaslamp District, World famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Sea World, Petco Park, the Harbor, Seaport Village, Coronado, Mission Bay and other beaches, Fashion and Mission Valley shopping centers, and golf courses are ALL within 15 minutes. La Jolla, North County, Torrey Pines golf course, Del Mar Racetrack, Legoland, and Safari Park are about 20-30 minutes away. If you are interested in heading south the border crossing is only 15 minutes away. As mentioned before regardless of your agenda everything is perfectly accessible from this location.
This quaint guest house is fully furnished and equipped to make your stay comfortable and cozy as if you were in your own home. It has a fully equipped kitchen that includes a double induction stove top, microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker, and the basic cooking materials such as flour, olive oil, spices, sugar, coffee, & tea. The crown jewel of this home is the master bedroom of this guest house. It is enveloped in glass windows which gives you the sensation you are in a tree house. It overlooks the vegetable garden and out into the canyon. There are high quality linens for both the bed and sofa-bed.
The colorful living room is ample yet cozy and comes fully stocked with all the necessary amenitites: large flat screen TV, wireless broadband internet, DVD player and movies, books, magazines, stereo, and a pull-out sofa bed. It is inviting for get togethers, movie nights, or curling up to read a good book. There is a large library where you will find an array from which to choose from.
This home is designed to showcase the garden which is shared with the main house and it offers an array of activities. It is our pride and joy so you will be sure to enjoy all it has to offer. The garden is perfect for that evening glass of wine after enjoying a romantic dinner. There is wonderful BBQ area that has a bar where you can sit and sip a margarita, and a dinning table with chairs to enjoy a delicious meal. You may want to get some exercise in and do a few laps in the pool or just float and soak in the serenity of this oasis. If you are a meditator or feel inspired to try it there is just the spot for you under the ficus tree in this specially designed meditation nook with its own buddha looking over you. Pull up a lounge chair with a good book, or go for a walk in the fruit tree orchard and see what’s in bloom! Regardless of what time of year you want to come, maybe you are a snowbird seeking some vitamin D, or just want a different setting other than a dull hotel room on your business trip, or want to explore San Diego We promise to treat you well, as this home is our sanctuary. You may find that you want to just retreat into this serene environment or explore the many places that San Diego has to offer. Either way we are sure you will want to make this a yearly pilgrimage!
