The village centre with shops, small supermarket, gastro pub, library, charming museum and ancient church is a ten minute walk away via “follies” (leafy footpaths that crisscross the village).
It is just a three minute walk past a cluster of 16th century cottages to the waterfront with its fishing boats, bar/restaurants, sailing clubs, boatyards and The Company Shed, famous for its local seafood.
Turn right for a stroll along the grassy seawall with views across the saltings and nature reserves to see flocks of seabirds, waders and geese.
Turn left to pass the slipways (a good pace to launch a paddleboard or canoe), lifeboat station and picturesque houseboats to reach the beach via a wooden boardwalk raised above the saltwater marsh.
