The space
Full of historic charm - including an 18ft well in the dinning room - this two-bedroomed thatched cottage is in the quaint village of Puddletown, 10 minutes from the county town of Dorchester, staggering distance to a fabulous pub and a short walk to the local shop.
Puddletown Forest is on your doorstep offering glorious walks, while the beach is nearby. There's so much to do in the area and Well Cottage is the perfect, cosy, luxury base from which to explore the county.
Offering all the amenities you'd expect from a home, including bluetooth speakers in every room, a real-effect log fire, a sunken bath, Netflix and an enclosed courtyard for dining outside.
The light lounge is at the front of the house with a large window overlooking the church. Choose from two comfy sofas and an armchair to sit around the fire watching TV, reading or playing games.
The country-style kitchen has all the mod-cons you might need – including dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.
The small dining room is where the cottage gets its name – the 18ft well discovered at the time of renovation. The French gold coin that you’ll see hanging on the wall here is from the 1800s and was found at the bottom of the well – who did it belong to we wonder??
A stable door leads to a fully enclosed courtyard garden. Large gates open on to the back lane, so it’s easy to store bikes safely here if you have them.
Stairs lead upstairs, where you’ll find two bedrooms. On the right is a pretty, cosy double bedroom with a small double bed and a wardrobe. To the left is the master room with a beautiful Provencal-style, king-sized bed.
The bathroom houses a sunken bath – perfect for soaking in after a country hike.
Guest access
Nine times out of ten you can park immediately outside the door of the cottage. Etiquette among the neighbours is to leave the space in front of each cottage free for owners.
The local pub, The Blue Vinny, is just a five minute walk (may be longer on the way back!) and serves excellent food and allows dogs in the bar.
The local shop is a two-minute walk away on the high street and serves an array of groceries, wine and beer, along with fresh bread and locally-made produce and fruit and veg. However, the large Tesco store is just a 10-minute drive away in Dorchester.
Just four miles from the county town of Dorchester, Puddletown is just off the A35 trunk road, which links Honiton in Devon and Southampton in Hampshire.

Other things to note
Little dogs are very welcome - one only. Haivng only a small courtyard, it's best suited to smaller pooches. We charge an additional £25 for a pet for the entire stay.
Being a thatched cottage, we do not allow smoking either in the cottage or in the courtyard. For the same reason, candles and BBQs are prohibited for safety reasons. Thank you so much
