Summary: We spent a very enjoyable week in this house which sits at the top of this pleasant village with lovely views across the roof tops to the mountains beyond. The house is charming with a shaded balcony off the kitchen living area looking over the village and a large roof terrace. A courtyard leads off the kitchen living area to a pool which, athough small, was big enough to entertain four children on the hot afternoons and provide a refreshing dip to cool off the adults. We were two adults and four children and we slept comfortably in the three larger bedrooms. There is a fourth bedroom with bunk beds which is quite small but would be fine for children. There is also a table tennis table, which we enjoyed. The house is five minutes walk from the centre of the village where there are four or five traditional Spanish bars and a restaurant (La Tasca) whose pizzas and chocolate calzone for pudding were a big hit with our children. Two of the bars sit on either side of the church square which comes alive in the evening with local families. One of them, Bar Salvador, serves good hearty rustic food (tapas free with each drink or larger racciones at very reasonable prices) which we enjoyed. There were one or two tourists (like us!) but it is pleasantly untouristy. There are some local shops incuding a nice bakery so you wouldn't have to leave the village if you didn't want to. Niguelas is about halfway between Granada and the Costa Tropical (about 35 minutes to each) and 5 minutes from the motorway linking them. It is also well placed for visiting the villages of the Alpujarras - Orgiva is about 40 minutes by car. I am a keen cyclist and there is plenty of good cycling to be had in this hilly area. A ride up the Pico de Veleta (Europe's highest road) from Monachil was a highlight. I thoroughly recommend this property and plan to return.
