Positive: The location was stunning and there were amazing views & scenery. Lovely seeing the cows looking over the garden fence, the sheep, rabbits and pheasants in the field behind & waving at people walking their dogs down by the river and at the farmers going past on tractors. Idyllic country retreat, lots of walks from the doorstep & village short walk away with two dog friendly pubs, a Coop shop and a (dog friendly) cafe (that serves lovely cakes and a cracking fry up). The property had most things we needed and was comfy, lovely bedding and soft furnishings. The neighbours were lovely and helpful and even moved the van from the parking bay, so that we could park there, so we were nearer to the property, to unload etc. And because they had 2 dogs, they gave our dog treats too! We enjoyed stargazing from the property and bedrooms, having a barbecue & having a real fire.

Negative: We could not get the dryer working. The cottage felt dusty and like a layer of gritty sand around on the surfaces. It also didn't feel well aired and bedding etc was slightly damp still. Other than that it was very clean. No firelighters or kindling was left for a fire & no washing powder (just an empty plastic box, where they usually were), I would expect 2 or 3 capsules, just in case they were needed. Other than they provided washing up liquid, cleaning sprays etc, etc. The glass wear, cutlery and crockery were not very clean, we had to rewash everything before using. We were told the dog could not go upstairs, yet we had no way to prevent him doing so, such as a stairgate The instruction folder for the cottage was out of date and confusing. We were unsure which bin to put out and what to recycle in what colour bin, the neighbours helped us with this. The info folder said there was box to get terrestrial TV channels, but it was not there, so we could only get Channels through our own apps, Netflicks, BBCiPlayer, etc, which not everyone has. The heating system was confusing. The property was not really dog (or child) friendly, there was access to the stream and sheep field behind. Also needs a fence or railings on the wall at the front as there is a 10 foot drop down to the road and if you are sat out, when the farmer comes past with the sheep, some dogs would jump down and injure themselves, or kids could easily fall. We had to move the garden table and chairs to prevent our dog going to close to the edge. There needs to be a rail on the steps leading up to the property, I have mobility issues and the steps were steep, slippery and difficult to climb, as nothing to hold on to.
