Talypont is about 8 miles north of Aberystwyth and less than 5 miles from the beautiful beaches and coastline of Ceredigion. Outside the sun trapped courtyard is an ideal spot for enjoying a gin and tonic or a barbecue. The village is well served for those who appreciate good inns serving food on the doorstep. There are also several mapped walks from the village ranging from easy to strenuous, including part of the “Spirit of the Miners Trail”. Guests looking for some of Ceredigion’s more challenging walking experiences can tackle the summit of Pumlumon, the highest point of the Cambrian Mountains in Ceredigion. Take a trip to the nearby Nant Yr Arian Visitor Centre and enjoy seeing the red kites being fed or enjoy the most popular woodland in mid Wales with a range of walking and mountain biking trails, visitor centre and café.

As a key part of the Wales Coast Path, the spectacular shores along the Ceredigion Coast Path stretch some 60 miles around the magnificent sweep of Cardigan Bay. The landscape and scenery is varied, ranging from coastal cliffs, wooded and flower covered slopes to pebble beaches, hidden coves and waterfalls, and sandy stretches backed by dunes and wildlife rich marshes. Much of this landscape is protected, including sites managed by the National Trust and local Wildlife Trusts. Both are less than 5 miles away, with its 2 mile stretch of sandy beaches, making Top Village the perfect base for walkers and people going on an adventure. At the northern end is the impressive sand dune system, known as Dyfi National Nature Reserve. Aberystwyth with its pier and promenade, castle, the electric cliff railway to the summit, and an unusual Camera Obscura, are all nearby. From Aberystwyth you can take the steam train on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil’s Bridge with its waterfalls and bridges. Beach 4.5 miles. Shop 15 yards, pub and restaurant 30 yards.
